Synopsis:
  The empress and the prince, heir, her stepson, have an illicit relationship, which means that he dreams of escape from the castle with his great love, the imperial doctor's daughter. Comments:
Again to bring you another movie from director Zhang Yimou. The film follows the line of his two other films, following the political side of "Hero" and melodramatic romantic side of "the clan of the flying daggers." Disagreements about the history of the Emperor Ping (Chow Yun-Fat) and Empress Phoenix (Gong Li) and other secrets of the palace.
As in previous films, the director Yimou account again with a fantastic art direction, with beautiful costumes and great photos. As you have noticed, Yimou loves to work the colors and this film is no exception. Even the costumes are with their costumes and colors and detail adequately correct. The visual effects left to be desired, because of computer graphics, the battle in which many soldiers were created digitally, but still it is exciting to see.
The choreography is excellent in the same style as the previous films of Yimou. I hope you enjoy the movie, despite being a drama, with stories and images very good. XD

The director Zhang Yimou has shown once again that you can tinker with our emotional, working very well the photo and music, as it did also with "Hero." A film that shows the love triangle of two friends and a rebel, very well portrayed and an excellent road map, even for those who do not like the genre.

  - To prepare for the role, Zhang Ziyi lived for two months with a girl who lost her vision at age 12 because of a tumor in the brain.
- The film was chosen as official representative of China for a place among those given the Oscar for Best Foreign Film in 2004. Not received the nomination in this category, but the work of Zhao Xiaoding competed the statuette for Best Picture.
- Originally, Anita Mui make his last appearance in the movies in this film, but she died before he could shoot his scenes. As a sign of respect, the director Zhang Yimou decided then change the road map and draw all the scenes in which characters appear. Even so, the name of the actress appears in the credits of the film.
- Zhang Yimou was the director who chose the Battle Katheleen opera singer to sing the theme song from the movie.

Synopsis

The film begins in the years preceding the Second World War, when a Japanese child named Chiyo and her sister are sold by their father, a fisherman village, the houses of geishas. Two sisters sharing the same fate difficult, being separated and having to endure many difficulties in a life without hope and reason.

By always trying to flee with her sister, she was put into confusion and lose the right to be geisha and has a miserable life as a servant. Until the moment that changed his life completely and of course she has the unique opportunity to establish itself as a legendary geisha, while pursuing his love of chance.

My comments

It's amazing how you only need one moment to change a life. Chiyo lived each day without hope, in an empty life when a small gesture of affection to give a reason to exist and strength to fight. Everything she did from that time was aiming to be better and have the right to love and be happy.

We often forget how small things we do in our day, however insignificant they seem, they can make much difference in the life of another person. This movie reminds us that, small gestures can have big consequences, if everyone did something good for others, our world would be very different.

Returning to the film, you learn a lot about the world of geishas, what they are and what they are, how they become what they are and what happens with those that can not be or have been.
