Synopsis:
 
The film is happening in the year 859, China in the Tang dynasty, but thriving, this decadent. The clan Punhais Voadores the rebel group is a more powerful of the season and the government is unable to combat them. The only plan was developed start the mission of infiltration of two soldiers, Leo (Andy Lau) and Jin (Takeshi Kaneshiro), the rebel group to capture the mysterious leader of the powerful rebel group. Knowing well the blind Mei to win their confidence and to infiltrate the group, but everything gets more complicated when the two friends are in love with girl.

Continuing the line a little bit of fighting this weekend, bring you to this wonderful film that involves passion and struggle. A great movie for this Sunday. It is extraordinary, the director knew well the emotions to pass the shooting. The visual and sound effects are perfect, captive from beginning to end.
The director Zhang Yimou has shown once again that you can tinker with our emotional, working very well the photo and music, as it did also with "Hero." A film that shows the love triangle of two friends and a rebel, very well portrayed and an excellent road map, even for those who do not like the genre.

Curiosities:
  - To prepare for the role, Zhang Ziyi lived for two months with a girl who lost her vision at age 12 because of a tumor in the brain.
- The film was chosen as official representative of China for a place among those given the Oscar for Best Foreign Film in 2004. Not received the nomination in this category, but the work of Zhao Xiaoding competed the statuette for Best Picture.
- Originally, Anita Mui make his last appearance in the movies in this film, but she died before he could shoot his scenes. As a sign of respect, the director Zhang Yimou decided then change the road map and draw all the scenes in which characters appear. Even so, the name of the actress appears in the credits of the film.
- Zhang Yimou was the director who chose the Battle Katheleen opera singer to sing the theme song from the movie.
- The scene was filmed in the snow in Ukraine. The snow, which fell in early October (autumn in Europe), surprised the production and forced the script to change the roadmap. The amendment, however, like Zhang Yimou, because, he said it was the perfect tone for the film.
- Zhang Yimou added scene in the forest of bamboo because I wanted to remain faithful to the tradition of martial arts films from China.
- This is the 3rd movie in which director Zhang Yimou and actress Zhang Ziyi work together. The previous was the way home (1999) and Hero (2002).
